Clinical care/Chronic or complex conditions
Chronic and complex conditions
You don't need another referral. You need someone to look at the whole picture.
Herbal medicine, lab review, and a pattern diagnosis that explains why two people with the same label need different care. In person in Phoenix and Syracuse, and online from anywhere.
I know this side of the table
Before the doctorates I was a patient with Crohn's disease and celiac disease, managed the conventional way, and not getting better. I found Chinese medicine as a biochemistry undergrad. Acupuncture, herbs, and breathwork brought me back, and functional medicine taught me to read the labs that explained why. I practice this way because it worked on me first.
So I know what it's like to be handed a diagnosis with no plan behind it. To be told the labs are fine. To be the person managing six specialists who have never spoken to each other. This is the part of the practice built for that.
Why a pattern matters more than a label
A diagnosis names the end result. A pattern describes how your body got there, and that's what treatment has to answer to. In Chinese medicine, three people with Crohn's can have three different patterns: one running cold and depleted, one damp and heavy, one hot and inflamed. Same chart from the gastroenterologist, three different formulas from me. Guessing wrong is why so many people have "tried herbs" and felt nothing.
Pattern diagnosis is read from your history, your tongue, your pulse, and your labs together. It's the oldest part of the medicine and the part almost nobody is taught to use well.
What care looks like
A long first conversation
The whole history, in order. Every lab from the past two years. Every bottle in the cabinet. Most people have never had anyone sit with all of it at once.
Herbal medicine
A custom formula for your pattern, adjusted as you change. Checked against your prescriptions. Written down so you understand what each piece is doing.
Labs that answer the question
When standard panels don't explain how you feel, I can order deeper functional testing. I only order what will change the plan.
Supplement review
Most people with a chronic condition take too many things that do nothing and miss the two that matter. We sort it.
Food as part of the medicine
Not a restriction list. The Chinese dietary approach for your pattern, which usually means warmer, simpler, and more specific than the internet suggests.
Acupuncture, when you're local
For gut motility, pain, sleep, and the nervous system underneath all of it. In Phoenix and Syracuse. Everything else on this list works by video.
The yearly in-depth health check
Opening in the new year. One long visit a year, 60 to 90 minutes, that does what a 12-minute physical can't: every lab you've had, laid side by side. The past year, reviewed. Tongue and pulse. Then a written plan for the next twelve months, with the labs worth rechecking and when.
It will be available in person and remotely, as a standalone visit or as the start of a longer program. Details and booking will be posted here first.
